We would never have been able to what Moving Forward did without the entire family "quitting our day jobs" ...

Our family was facing a very difficult situation – clearing a house owned by our elderly father that had been inhabited by a member of our family with mental health issues and a long history of “hoarding”. We found Debby Fox and her company, “Moving Forward”, on the internet, and thank goodness we did. Debby came to meet with us at the house. After a thorough inspection, she provided a very detailed plan, timetable and budget, all in writing. She was very clear about how she charges for the work, which we greatly appreciated. She also made every attempt to keep costs down by managing and adjusting the size of her team, as the project unfolded.
The reason Debby and her team are so effective at their work is that they address a multitude of needs simultaneously. For us, there were the logistics of the move: packaging, labeling, inventory, photography, garbage bins, moving trucks, storage facilities, and all the other details involved in a big move. However, the degree of knowledge and sensitivity that Debby herself provides is especially impressive. She talked to us about the nature of hoarding, the emotional needs of people who have to let go of thousands of items that are meaningful only to them, and the balance that is required between gentleness in approach and the necessity for progress. Debby really understands how to work with people, while still accomplishing the goal.

Finally, one of the most impressive aspects of Debby’s work is her ability and desire to communicate effectively, thoroughly, and often. We were always informed, usually daily (by e-mail, often with accompanying photos, phone calls, on-site meetings) of outstanding questions, unforeseen issues, and any related costs, with options. This level of communication allowed us to continue to be in control of the situation, secure in the knowledge that Debby and her team were doing the work exactly the way we wanted it done, and according to the pricing scheme on which we had agreed. There were no surprises, and in our circumstances, that was of utmost importance.
The move is now complete, the salvaged furniture and over 200 boxes (many with attached photos) neatly organized in a storage facility, with a room-by-room master inventory of the contents. It took several people of different skill levels (and pay rates) about ten days to accomplish our project. We feel that we derived great value for our money, and that we would never have been able to do what Moving Forward did without the entire family “quitting our day jobs”.
